WHAT A WEEKEND !

WOW ...What a weekend it was ...whew, thank goodness it is over and it is back to normal for a few days anyway ! LOL. I think it is like a week left till my gang gets out of school for the summer, which is no bother to me ... but I won't have as much money as usual right now to do "fun" things as we used to do. So, I might end up a little nuttier !

Well anyway, back to our weekend ... Adam had four days off - so we made sure that we used every second of it to do something, and that we did. Friday for some reason I decided that we should clean out the basement then the garage, so we rented a storage locker in town for the stuff that we wanted but were not using - you know Holiday things mostly and some odd's and ends too. So all day we took things up from the basement and unto the driveway, when we got done with that we did the same to the garage. Once we had everything on the driveway, we went through it all and separated things into piles. We had a van load to go to Goodwill and three to the storage locker. We now have one hec of a yard sale pile, and if it don't sell it goes to Goodwill as well. All that was left went back into the garage and not one thing went back into the basement ! I was so glad of that ! We finally got all of this done at 2 am and we were sooooo tired that we all totally crashed ... waking up on the floor and sofa's in the livingroom Saturday morning !

So, Adam and I woke early ...ok,ok, actually he woke up early - then he woke me up. (I would have probably slept in) we decided to let the kids sleep in and went to the store to get some things that we needed and some gas for the lawnmower. When we got home we decided that we'd sweep up the dust, etc. left in the basement and garage as well as tidy up around the house, mow the grass and weedwhack around the yard and maybe hang the rest of what is left of the trim upstairs. Well - the Lord must have had other plans because; sure as I kid you not, a pipe burst in the basement and flooded a major majority of it ! So, now this being a new problem, we had to go back to the store to get the stuff to replace the pipes that were old or rigged (as the people liked to do that were here last) and fix the problem. Now, Adam is not a plumber, but he knows a little - so it ended up taking some time and most of our extra time up to fix the whole problem ourselves ... but HOW odd is it that we had just taken everything out of the basement ??? What a coincidence. I was never so glad to have the water back on to take a shower that night ! Nerve wracking, but whew !

One thing I am glad of though is that I have always been rather organized so if it had been that our stuff was in the basement, I think it would have mostly been ok ... I have a system of Rubbermaid storage boxes and every occasion has it's own color, really nice when you go to find something. But now as we are going to have some moisture down there and mold I am sure - it worried me alot because my allergies and asthma don't fare so well with things like that ... so I am so glad that something told me to get that storage locker !

Well, that now takes us to Memorial Day Monday ... since we got most of all we planned to do - done except hanging more trim upstairs, we had a pretty good day. We had a cookout, just us and Adam and the kids played football in the yard. They really enjoy that. I had some laundry to go do and a few dishes to run in the dishwasher since the water had been off so that was what I did till we ate but when we were done we all got ready for our big burn out in the field. It was pretty big with alot of wood, old doors and some other things we threw in, the kids roasted marshmallows and had some S'mores too ... it was pretty fun. Before long. time got away and it was 10 pm again, so since the kids had school today and we got everyone in to shower and get ready for bed. All in all, even though it was hectic at times, it was a nice weekend ... and I am so glad that we got some things done around here ! On a sad note though, one of our cats ran away Friday night and hasn't been seen since, however even though my kids feel this is a major trauma, I am not crying ! shhhhhhhhhh !

This morning I got the rest of my flowers planted in my flower area and dug up some weeds. Just as I finished, a thundershower came in and soon after the kids came home from school, so here I sit before I make dinner, take my shower, do laundry and get ready for bed - just relaxing ....ahhh, seems very nice, if only for a moment anyway !

Well, I think I am going to go for now ... but I am sure that I will be back soon ... you never can tell what I will write about ... lol ... I do have a bunch of new photo's to load for everyone to see, but Adam took the digicam to work with him and hasn't brought it back yet .... so as soon as he remembers to do that - I will have them up !

p.s. As for the NASCAR race on Sunday ... Jeff's race was dissapointing, but atleast he still has the points lead ... and Jimmie Johnson did not win ! Lowe's is not my fave track anyway ! You'll get them next weekend Jeff !
