Hello guys ! I have been quite the busy gal, so today I have nothing too pressing planned and am using some of my time to finally do a thoughts blog. :O)
1) MAINTENENCE MAN: yes, this is a thought. Yesterday was the last day at the house we were cleaning - the LL finally was able to rent it and the people started to move in. Adam was kinda down about it though, because he said he was really liking having to go there and "tinker" with things. LOL. Then no less then an hour later the LL comes by again and gives us a key back and says he just don't have the time to maintain all his houses and go to work right now. So he asks Adam to be the "maintenence man" of sorts for some of his properties, for the cost of half of our rent every month - atleast - till summer is over. Well yes, we said, that will work out great ! It will of course mean we have lawns to mow and weed, cleaning and raking - house stuff to do, but what a nice answer to a prayer - huh ?
2) Today is the kids last day of public school. Brittany wasn't all too thrilled this morning, but I suppose the rebellion that has been rearing it's head will stop exibiting itself when she gets use to it. ~ I spoke with a new friend yesterday from my homeschool group, she gave me soo many good ideas and neat things to do. I cannot wait to utalize them and am excited about doing this. At the same time though I am kinda nervous.
3) This weekend we are going to go buy some things we need to finish out the school year. Some pencils, paper and binders. Adam found me a "Managers of thier Homes" book on eBay and bought it and wants to get the rest of the books there as well. I have already had the school guidance counselor call me a few times and show thier dismay, so I wouldn't be suprised if they do a well check kinda of thing. I do have to have my hours marked down though and it will be ready !
4) They had a great deal posted online yesterday at my homeschool groups site about homeschoolers going to Kalahari - a waterpark/resort here in the Dells for a discount. So it looks like we get to go back down there April 21st and 22nd. When we checked the rooms for a family our size, they were 600 - 800 a night - that is NOT a joke, but they have them for homeschoolers for 200 on those nights, which is what we paid at Great Wolf. Even still an amount I have trouble swallowing, but I did laugh hysterically when they said 6 - 800. HAHAHAHA .. Yeeeaaa, dude, let me jump at that ! You'd have thought though, that there wasn't any bad economy, they were totally booked !
5) Anyway, I am not telling the kids. I am going to let it be a suprise. It is going to be realllly hard to me to stay quiet, but I know they will love it ! It will kinda be thier Easter thing, since we don't really have anything planned for that.
6) Even though, Adam is debating to go home for Easter or not.. We had planned to go this next week, as it would have been the kids spring break anyway, but Adam was told he'd have to work half the week anyway and then Jordan found out his girlfriend and family were busy and I was going to see if I could meet up with Windi, but nothing seems to be working out. It might just end up being a quick trip to see the mom's instead, but that will be nice too.
7) I must admit though that I am hesitant ... to go home. Adam's mom - well, is NOT a ray of sunshine - if you know what I mean .... the homeschooling news might just send her into a tizzy, and being that Linda - Adam's SIL - is now a teacher, we just can't wait to hear what they will say, I am so sure it will be encouraging and positive too. oooh - yeeeaaa, right. So that might just make us stay away .. that, and my own father - to whom I don't speak to. I would like to see my Mom though, but that is about the only family I can handle at the moment.
8) I am so tired of everyone being sick around here - My kids have had strep, mono and now pink eye ... Jordan is home today because they sent him home from school, but the girls went. The nurse at the doctors office says everyone has been getting it and that we are not alone. The germs just don't want to die - so looks like when I start my spring cleaning , I will really have to scrub even more than I planned to. Next year, we are sooo getting shots, I have sooo learned my lesson ! This year has just stunk as far as being sick goes !
9) Ya know, I think even our cat is sick ! No kidding. Smokey Bones has just not been himself at all lately and is having alot of trouble keeping things in or down. I hope he is ok, I will have to schedule a vet visit.
10) Speaking of spring cleaning though, I have four hugggge boxes I have already started to clean out things with and they are ready to go. I was hoping to run them into town today or tommorrow. My girls haven't noticed anything is missing though. LOL.
11) Jordan decided it is time he sell a bunch of his things on eBay though - so Adam set him up his own thing and I will help him somewhat. He is getting rid of (some, not all) of his Nascar things and music stuff. He hopes that he can make enough money to buy an iPod to replace the one he had stolen.
12) Another form of spring cleaning will be that Adam wants all the extra TV's gone and DVD players. So we agreed that everything should be in one room now and on ONE TV/computer... games, movies - etc. so that is what we will do. The hope is that everyone will come together more instead of being so separate .... in thier own rooms and such ... so the extra's will most likely go to the pawn shop and hopefully we can make a few dollars off of them.
13) Well, as much as I have missed being around here - I still haven't had much time to play catch up and have missed many blogs. I am sorry, I try to read what I can, but never seem to get very far. So that is it for me today, I have a stick load of laundry to catch up with and some errands to go do too, it is soo nice to have another van for the time being. Hope ya'll are doing well, and have a great day !
TAMMIE
Sounds like you've been busy, and how awesome is the LL?!?!?! Wow, what a great trade off!
ReplyDeleteHope the homeschooling goes well, and the kids adapt quickly!
I was so excited that I started the laundry and a couple loads of dishes and completely forgot to turn on the dryer. I miss hanging them out on the line, but we do have a LOT of birds here, which would completely defeat the purpose of saving money. LOL
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Tammie..........When do you get time to even breath??? Ahaha!! Gawsh. So much going on and plus the kiddies getting sick with this and that............. You deserve a medal...haha!!!
ReplyDelete*hugs*
That's so great that LL made that offer. Hopefully it won't take up too much time.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice deal you got on the motel room. It will be a nice surprise for everyone.
Have fun on your 1st day of homeschooling. ;)
Kalahari! That's the name of the waterpark place we went to right before school started....with Nikki and Dave and Aden and the babies. The kids loved and want to go back, but you are right, it's SOOOO expensive. Wow.
ReplyDeleteon #12. We have one tv and it's in the basement room, not in the living room, and it's great. I don't see the point in having more than one TV, but then again you are talking to someone who got rid of cable, too! LOL
Can't wait to see you, we need to figure out when to meet up this weekend!
Good luck with homeschooling. Have fun in the Dells and going home over Easter. Sorry everyone is sick. You are busy busy busy!
ReplyDeleteI have been seriously considering homeschooling Christopher but have not made a final decision. Props to you and prayers that it all works out.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime try to find some time to slow down, your house sounds like mine lately.... too busy!!!
I don't mean to be negative, and I don't know what you pay for rent, but only getting half off to manage more than one property sounds like your husband isn't being compensated enough. How many lawns is that to mow? How many clogged toilets, garbage disposals, leaky faucets etc.? I just hope your LL isn't taking advantage of your husband. My friend and her husband live in an apartment building with 4 units total and live rent free in exchange for being "property managers." I suppose it all depends on what exactly the LL is asking you to do.
ReplyDeleteI think I have to call the Kalahari and ask about that discount! My boys love it there but they are so expensive. We used to go every year, after the WPA conference, but their prices got so high.
Just so you know, you DO NOT have to show anyone your logged hours. The only documentation you need to show anyone who dares come to your door is your PI-1206 form and a record of attendance, which can simply be a calendar with days marked, "P" for present or "S" for sick. In fact it is advised you show no more than this. I keep a copy of our PI1206 next to the calendar with our days all marked "P". My kids have to be unconscious to be marked, "S" for sick. If they can listen to me read to them or are well enough to watch an educational video, that counts as schooling in my book. We also carry copies of our PI-1206 in our wallets in the highly unlikely event we are stopped while we are learning outside of the home, field trips, library visits etc. However, we've been homeschooling for over 10 years and the only time I've had to show our PI-1206 to anyone was when I signed up for teacher's discounts at book stores!
Hi Tammie! Thanks so much for leaving your comments in my last blog (and for hugs--those are always nice, and needed!). It was great to hear from you. My only comments to your blog here are that it's not easy when you go "against the grain" and do something like homeschool, when people around you are getting on your case for it. I think you just have to do what you feel is right for the situation. But I feel your pain. My wife and I made a decision years ago to not follow the recommended immunization schedule that is recommended for children (primarily because we're not convinced that pumping 57 dead viruses into their bodies when they're only a couple of months old is really doing them a lot of GOOD, but also because of the mercury issue). And that has caused a lot of grief for us. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteIts good to hear from you. You sound like a busy lady over there.
ReplyDeleteBrittney will calm down eventually and things will settle for her. Its very hard to do what you are doing but I wish you lots of luck in your decision and I hope its a huge success!
Hope everyone is feeling better around there now for good! :)
You do sound very busy lady!!!! Oh I am sure Brittney will be just fine after you get things going at home and all!!! I know you'll do a great job! It's not easy but I think it's worth it in the end!! The surpise for the kids sounds like fun too! Yeah on getting half off your rent too!! I bet that really helps!!! I hope your day has been a great one! Hugs your way!!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with the TV thing.......Z will not ever have one in her room while she lives at home. We have two...one in the living room and one in my room (yes, I am a hypocrite) but they are really only on for less than an hour a day....usually at night after Z goes to bed I watch one of the shows I DVR....and that is only about 45 minutes after you cut out the commercials. I will admit that my recent depression found me staring at the television for 15 hours a day, dozing on and off, but those were different circumstances than usual.
