I packed the kids up and drove "home" (North-West Indiana) to see my Ma, yesterday. It took near 5 hours. Adam didn't want to come.
Now, this might sound REALLLLLLLLLLLLY bazzaar - especially coming from me - but I am GLAD I live far away from here ! It has become a sesspool of filth and despair. YUCK ! There is buisness on top of buisness, traffic is crazy and the people are worse. Not that they aren't up there, but in a different way.
Maybe, perhaps I have lived out in the middle of no where for too long, I don't know, but it is quiet where I live. I guess I like that after all. Hmmm.
Guess God had reasons for getting us out of here afterall ...
Anyway, I stayed and visited my Mom and Grandpa for a few hours and then she said my Dad would be there soon, so we hot-footed it out of there. She wanted me to reconsile, but I can hold a grudge with the best of 'em ... so nope, that ain't gonna happen. If he wants, he can appologize. And that is all I will say about that.
After that we came to Merrillville to stay the night, really only at the kids request because I really was ready to drive the 5 hours back home and didn't want to spend any money for a hotel, but I let them have thier fun. I am quite dismayed though that this place is over run by Indians, and as I can be a tad predidicial, the Wal-Mart up here is worse. DO NOT EVER make me go in there again !!!
One word - sesspool.
Yes, so probably ONLY this one time, you are hearing - wait, SEEING me type this, I am glad I am out of here. Now, we are up, and out the door, on our way back home .... glad I got to see my Mom .... but I won't be back here anytime soon !!
Glad you got to go visit your mom...I don't know the story behind your dad, but I'm sure it must be big if you're not willing to reconcile. Have a safe trip...

Glad you got to get away for a bit....
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to get away even if only for overnight. The area we live in used to be quiet too but now it's strip mall central. Too many people. Too much traffic. Doesn't take long for things to change.
ReplyDeleteGlad you made the trip safely. Sometimes it is good to go back so you can see how far you have come....and where you DON'T want to be.
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear you got to see your mom and I hope you have a safe trip back Tammie :)
ReplyDeleteI can hear ya on the desire to never go back! We visited Michigan for Christmas, and we felt the very same way, and we couldn't wait to leave. We had to stay for 5 days, and it was over for us by the 2nd day. We aren't sure if we'll ever go back. If my in-laws want to see us, they can come here. I hope you have a safe drive home and enjoy being where your true home is!
ReplyDeleteHappy you got to see your mom but sounds like you are best not around there! Hope you had a safe trip back! Hugs
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny that our home truly is where our hearts are. I miss Michigan more than I thought possible. Even with all it's faults - bad economy, it will always and forever be my home. I miss the midwest values. I miss my family. I miss being able to go camping on the weekends and fishing in the local lakes - I miss the wide open spaces.
ReplyDeleteMy family is really really close, so that is probably the real reason.
I'm glad you were able to have a pleasant visit with your Mom and Grandpa and a quick respite in the hotel where the kids could play for a bit.
Glad u got to make the trip!
