I'M GOING TO PULL MY HAIR OUT !

Ok, in all likely hood that realllly ain't gonna happen, but I feel so overwhelmed and stressed today.

Gosh, how do I even begin to explain how I feel ? It is kinda like I think that the Lord lost his mind by guiding me in this direction. He must not have a clue how I feel so inadaquate in doing all these things in one day ... cleaning, schooling, scheduling, laundry, dinner, shopping, bills . ... the list goes on.

Yes, I know my thoughts about all this come late, and really should have been thought of before - but I just don't think I can do this ....

So with that I will say that I am feeling a bit down today, the day ain't going all that well, so hopefully, maybe ? ..... tommorrow will be better.

The weather outside is cold and crappy today. The kids who enjoyed so many days out are now going stir crazy and driving me insane.

A good thing tho, I felt awful yesterday, another migrane and sore throat ... yuk, but Adam was a great big, HUGE help to me in accomplishing my list of "to do's" for that day.

Kalahari trip is tommorrow afternoon, I am hoping it settles me a little. Right now I am constantly thinking ....

" WHAT was I thinking" !

  1. Maybe you need to "let go and let God." I stopped stressing over home schooling when I chose that path. A great book is Christian Unschooling by Teri Brown. And you know what, its perfectly acceptable to ask your kids to help out around the house with cleaning. Its "home economics class!" Seriously, its ok to ask your family for help, especially when you aren't feeling well. Its my belief that if mom isn't happy, no one is happy. Everyone has to pitch in and help out. I hope you're feeling better soon, and you can relax and enjoy your vacation. Grab yourself a tube and float down that lazy river! (My favorite part of the Kalahari experience!)

  2. I am sorry your having one of those days!! Now I won't lie this won't be yoru last one but you have to just take it one day at a time. If you don't get everything done you want then don't worry about it!! I agree let go and let God!!! I also agree that everyone shoule help.I know with having 5 kids how messy things can get if it's not done. Have everyone pitch in and help. Don't allow them to do fun stuff till they have helped out with getting the house in order and done there schooling. So I know how you feeling some days I wonder how on earth can I do it all but just keep with it and you can do it!!! Hang in there!!!! Big hugs to you my friend!!! Talk to you soon!!

  6. Oh, Hon! EVERY homeschool mom has days like you've had! The first year is the hardest, but seriously...don't stress if you can't get it all done. One thing I had to learn was that it is okay to put the books away and send them outside to play, lol. We also like the "home economics" days...we had one today! And we like doing "drop everything and read" days. I know you have toddlers, but it will keep your older kids occupied, especially on rainy days. I agree that the housework is shared and should be in any family, no matter what schooling choice you make. You may want to spend time planning which chores are age appropriate for each child, make a chart, and get them started on a regular routine. It takes a lot of patience, but they'll eventually get the hang of it. Mine are to the point where they have a morning routine and I don't even have to remind them what comes next. (After 10 years of homeschooling, it's about time, LOL.)

    You'll eventually fall into a routine and pattern. It takes a lot of trial and error in the beginning, so give yourself a HUGE break from your own expectations! {{{{HUGS}}}}

  7. Love your new background! Cute!

    Please, take a few deep breaths, and realize that you are not alone in thinking this! I'm SURE that every homeschooling mother goes through EXACTLY the same thoughts as you!

    Also, remember, that you DO NOT have to do school the way they do 'at school', if you know what I mean! You can do an hour or so in the morning, take a break, so some more later, take another break, etc. As long as the work gets done, it really doesn't matter HOW you do it!

    Trial and error, hon. Trial and error! :)~

    enjoy your Kalahari trip tomorrow! What a perfect kind of day to go do that! cold and rainy outside? Swimming inside! Whoot!

  8. This too shall pass. My list gets over whelming sometimes to. I find it helps though if I check things off as I go, then I can see I have accomplished something even if the house doesn't always look like it. LOL
    Hope you feel better. Have a great trip.
