1) Told ya's there would be more, but this won't be as long as I thought today. I can't remember now all that I had on my mind.
2) OM word .. Cameron and Gracie are being wild beasts today. :O(
3) I read in our local paper today that a big percentage of high school students are dropping out recently in order to help thier families and get jobs. They claim it is in the majority of families who make less than 80K a year. I guess the US is stepping back now to just get by. Sad reality of it all I guess.
4) I also just read on Yahoo how people are selling blood, sperm and HAIR to get by .... I didn't even know you could sell hair, OH MY !
5) Jordan, Brittany and I had a discussion last night about college. My kids don't want to go. I do not have a problem with this mainly because we DON'T "DO" debt, but also because I feel there are ways to get by without going anymore. I heard on 20/20 last week that more and more people are choosing NOT to send thier kids due to the economy.
6) I am a bit aggrevated at the moment .. Gracie is tearing out everything she can get her hands on and I just spent 45 minutes trying to get the buttons back onto my computer. I can't ... she ripped them off good this time. Adam is not going to be at all happy about it and neither am I. I swear it literally takes her .2 seconds to run across the room before I can get there and she rips the buttons off.
7) I just got the mail and there was a letter from the doctor that said because of the US results, he was refrerring me to the doctors in LaCrosse for an appointment on February 16th. Yayy ! I sure wish I would hear something about the state insurance stuff .. that would be so nice.
8) "18 Kids and Counting" is on tonight at 9/8c on TLC. Good... something to look forward to, I feel looney today. Gahhh, Gracie needs a nap ... hec, I NEED a nap !
9) I never did eat that baked potato, I went back to bed, but I had a good lunch though. Tonight I think we'll have lasagna for dinner. I have to run to the store later though, yuk, I hate going out in the cold.
Well, on that note, I am going to go chill and hopefully get miss monster to sleep !
Have a good day everyone !
TAMMIE
Can't you sell your hair for wigs for those with cancer? I think that's what they mean....
ReplyDeleteI was thinking that too Anne!
ReplyDeleteBoo on not getting the potato yet...I hate when Im craving something and dont get it!
The economy is bad. Meg is determined to go to college though so I need to start looking up stuff for grants and scholarships to try and do all that i can. I wish my parents would have pushed me to go.
Sorry about the crazy kiddos...hope things are calmer now!
have a good evening!
The kids have cabin fever!!!!! aaaaacccckkkk!!!!!! :)~
ReplyDeleteI don't think college is absolutely necessary, but I do think that it sure can help..depending on what you want to do in life. Right at the moment, I don't see how either one of my boys will go unless they can get loans scholarships or work through college. We sure won't be able to help pay for it. Sigh.
Enjoy your show tonight. I just might see about looking it up and watching it. I don't know. there's not too much point in me getting into any new show right now, because after Friday we won't have cable tv anymore anyway. I'm just happy I can catch Lost and (I think) CSI on the computer--- IF the usb wireless adapter picks up a signal.......
Well the good thing is you can get a decent keyboard from Walmart for under $10. I don't doubt people are selling blood, plasma and sperm. I know you can donate hair, I didn't know you could sell it. Crap, i just cut mine too! LOL! Although you can get jobs without college degrees, I would encourage them to go to college, those jobs are getting harder and harder to come by, good ones that is, look at all the manufacturing jobs that are being lost. I'd encourage them to go into fields that will be in demand always, like medical or computers. There's grants and student loans, and it is possible, even if it's just community college. There's a lot of people who put themselves through college. My sister is a RN and she had student loans, my parents weren't able to help. I'm getting aid to go back. It's possible!
ReplyDeleteI slightly disagree, I see things taking astep back and people relying on some old fashined know how .. like the things our grandparents knew. Jordan is very interested in cars and if he don't go in the military, he would like to go to a trade school or open a shop of his own.
ReplyDeleteAnd I know alot of people don't agree with me, but I teach the girls to cook and sew and be Mom's .. I think the world needs more. Like I said my values are very old and that is MY choice. Now if they choose to do something else, they know the military is there or a job to pay for the college them selves. Since they know we disapprove of debt they know that if that is a choice they make, we will not be behind them in that.
I am NOT saying college is wrong, again these choices are OURS. I believe that everyone has thier own path in life.
That is good .. it isn't a show you have to watch one week then can't the next cuz you missed something.
ReplyDeleteI REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY just need to go ahead and get rid of the TV all together here, but dang it .. it is so controlling !! :O(
I am thinking it is donating, but I have no idea. :O) Maybe the companies buy it now ?
ReplyDeleteI hope you hear something from the state insurance soon.
ReplyDeleteGracie sure is a fasssssst lil thang!!! Ahhahaa!!!! You probably did need a nap! I hope you were able to get one! *hugs* :-D
Well, a little Jordan came home and took them upstairs for a bit for me - that is nice. :O) I am hungry again though and have to go to the store in a little bit. I need a snack, but there isn't a whle lot to munch on here atm.
ReplyDeleteNot yet, but hopefully in a few. I am hungry again, so I must find something to eat first. LOL. :o)
ReplyDeleteM has worked in the manufacturing field for 15 years now, and this last year or two has been nothing but problems, lay offs, plants closing, and when he was searching for a job, if he had programming experience he could of found a good job in a heartbeat, but since he had not gone to college and none of these places want to train anyone, he couldn't get those jobs. Jobs in retail ect, are hard to come by now and so many of the jobs that use to be available are not anymore. Now, this is now, in the future when our kids are older, hopefully things will have turned around. Trade school is great too, we will always need auto mechanics, plumbers, electricians..ect. I'm just saying some kind of schooling or training is necessary. If Obama keeps his promise, the construction field should be booming in the future. So yea there are ways around college, but he should learn a trade. It all depends on what he wants to do when he's out of school.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing wrong with teaching girls to cook, sew..ect..heck, boys should learn this! I saw an episode of the duggars that they were teaching the boys the "girl" stuff and the girls the "boy" stuff like changing oil and tires. I believe that girls in this world need to learn to be self sufficient and not rely on a man to handle everything for them. I thought it was great that they were teaching their kids to be well rounded.
go to www.fastweb.com. they show you a whole bunch of different scholarships that you are available for. and don't forget to do the fafsa!!! if you have any questions, i don't pay a cent for school now so i'm pretty good with it!
ReplyDeleteNO DOUBT. I change the oil in the cars before it gets bad, and have always had Brittany or Jordan help me. We had Brittany and Hannah learn to change the tire last spring and "retested" them last fall, just to see if they remembered.
ReplyDeleteI didn't do it though so they didn't have to not depend on a man, because I beleive that the man should do these things for the women because he is the authority once they get married. I ust made sure that this was something they knew just in case they were out and about town and got stuck. It is just something that should be learned anyway.
Very true...hahaa!!
ReplyDeleteYeah Tammie, you gotta fill that tummy up first, so you can get all cozy after eating something...........and then you can take your nap. I hope!!
:-D
Sorry you are having such a rough day.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your show tonight. If I remember I'll try to watch it.
Mmmmm lasagna sounds good. I haven't had it in a long time.
Have a great night!
Hope the kids calmed down a bit for you Tammie :) hang in there!!
ReplyDeleteThe economey is sooo bad right now. Thats horrible to hear that kids are dropping out of high school to help their parents out. Geesh....
ReplyDeleteHope you get the state insurance!! Insurance always helps out!
Did you ever get your nap in?
Hugz!!!
My girls are none too keen on college either. My eldest is 16, and she just told me yesterday that her true heart's desire is to get married and have babies, LOL. I am with you on training girls in the skill of caring for the home! Mine are good at it, too!! I do encourage them to at least seek a 2 year degree if they can, even if it is one class at a time. I think learning is a joy, regardless if it brings about any financial rewards.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of teaching practical skills like changing a tire or other things that were once considered a man's job. I hope they find good husbands who like doing all that manly stuff, though! I think it is important to teach that there are certain roles for men and women...things just work better when there are distinct roles instead of mucking everything all up. Not because one gender is superior or that there are strict rules as to what men and women can do, but because there needs to be an order to things. It brings stability and security into the home and reduces confusion.
I also agree that debt, especially a student loan, is simply not a good choice. We are hoping for scholarships and grants for any higher education our children choose, and I will strongly advise against any debt incurred to go to school.
Are you sure Gracie doesn't have some sort of super power?? That is one fast child!
Oh wow.. I just love you ! :O)
ReplyDeleteYou and I agree on so much !! YAYY ! You have no idea how I prayed for more blog friends that would !
Um, I dunno about Gracie.. but wow, she kept me going today, was I ever so glad once the kids got home and took her upstairs for a little bit. WHEW !
Awww...I'm so glad I can be here for you!! Likewise, it is nice to know I am not alone. We tend to be misfits because we feel so strongly about some things. However, I don't mind if people don't like me or understand. It can feel lonely at times, but I answer to God alone. {{{{hugs}}}}
ReplyDeleteI am sure there is plenty we would disagree on too, LOL. I like to find what I have in common with friends, but I will state my opinion on things regardless of what they say. I try to be honest, but nice. :0)
OK.... We are alot more alike than you realize. What you just wrote, I cold have wrote. :O) lol. I think my biggest problem though is worring what others would think, but I am learning that isn't that important anymore. :O)
ReplyDeleteI am very glad to have met you.
OH I hope the kids calmed down for you and sorry you didn't get your potato! LOL I am not watching the news anymore! I got so depressed the other day when I read all the lay offs and how our economy is going to get worse!! Just plain scary. I kinda of feel the same way you do about college. It's just way to expensive too!! I think it's sad that kids have to drop out of school but in a way sweet to pull in for the family. Kind of like in little house on the praire times. I hope your Wednesday is going good! Hugs
