SATURDAY STUFF

Interesting day already :O) .... Actually it started around 6:30 pm last night. Brittany asks me if she could go to a party, a dance. So of course I have to ask a million questions and I am not going to say "Why yes", at the first mention of hearing about it. My first question was along the lines of "Why are you asking me this now, this starts at 7".  I get an "I dunno. ... Ma'am ... can I go" ?

So I pry, I want more answers. "Who is going ? Where is this at ? Is it supervised, what music is going to be played and most importantly, are there going to be boys" ? ...... My answer: "My friends, some club place in town, I don't know - the music they play today and Yes". So Adam and I discuss it  ... since Influence is 75 % of most  kids, She don't KNOW  if it's supervised ??? There will be boys and the music they play today (supposing that means what's on rock stations) and it is at SOME club place ??? We decide the answer will be NO.

Needless to say, she is kinda ticked at me today. But she KNOWS our rules. I know it's being a teen and all, but our rules have never changed, they have always been the same. We haven't allowed certain music in the house for years now so why would I let her go to a place that plays it ? We just don't think that is was in her best interest to go. So be it if she is upset with us for a day, it will pass.

So, IN OTHER NEWS ...

We all got up at 8 this morning, and went to the other house to clean. SIGH. Where do I begin ? The Police have to be called, it was broken into and vandalized. I have to call LL, and hopefully he will get pictures. It appears (we think) that is was kids, the house is full of candy wrappers, and empty juice boxes. Grafitti like stuff or scibbling is all over the wall and the toilet is a mess. SOOOOOO, while we think the water problem is finally fixed, we now have a new problem. Will this poor house ever get clean ? Yikes. I am worried that we waste our time and someone breaks in again that it will all be for not. I would be really ticked if I was LL, but I haven't been able to get a hold of him yet. I don't know what to do to keep people out of it, I have certainly never rented a house, so I have no idea what to do. I just felt terrible when I saw it though. I don't know how some kids' parents just don't keep tabs on thier kids. And people mock me for doing so. Pfft. Gaaahh ! Does no one know respect anymore ? Shheeesh.

Besides that - Jordan went over to the Goodwill a bit ago for his community assistance credits for school. Adam had to go with. Seems Goodwill will not let the High Schoolers be unsupervised at thier buisness, so Adam wasn't very happy about that. I have no idea what thier reasonings are, but seems sorta dumb to me. Who am I to say that tho, I am kinda the same way at times. Temptations are too easy for teens, so maybe the supervison is best for the majority. Who knows.

I got the mail a bit ago and it seems as though Hannah was sent to the office yesterday at school for saying Grace before she ate her lunch .... SIGH. Thanx for the notice tho, she won't be punished :O(  I also got the gas bill too, and it was actually cheaper  then last month's bill ... by alot ! I am confused as we used more ! They don't explain it in the bill, just says I have a cancelled bill credit amount of 293.68 ... so I may have to go look online. Hmmmmmmmmm ...

So anyways, that is my Saturday so far, I have ten tons (or what looks like it) of laundry to do, lunch to make and a house that can stand to be tidied up. I do not reallllllllly feel like doing it though. SIGH. :o)

Hope that you all have a great day !

  1. That's a shame about the house.

Are community assistance credits something new? Are they required for graduation?

I've got laundry to do today too. Have a great day!

  2. Yes, they started that this year here. Jordan has one year of school left so he was happy to do it though.

  4. Are you serious?? Students can't even bow their head to pray before they eat their meal??? That is SO totally ridiculous that I cannot even express my shock. Wow... I am so glad we are home schooling our children. I really don't think we'd be able to handle public school education...the system is seriously flawed.

I also want to say...Great job on your decision regarding the party!!! It is so nice to know there are other "mean moms" out there, LOL. I know how it is to be despised by your teen for not allowing them to do something that everyone else is doing! I am sure your daugher is secretly glad that you cared enough to say no (my daughter will often come to me at some point and say thank you for the boundaries we set). She may not ever admit it to you until she is over the age of 25, but she'll appreciate it someday.

  6. Dude that's insane.... I'd call down to that school so fast it would make your head spin. How DARE they send her to the office over Grace. And how dare they expect you to punish her for it. That's whats wrong with this world people are so busy trying to take God out of everything. That's why everything is falling apart. That's crazy.

  7. I cant believe she got sent to the office for minding her own business and saying grace. That would upset me.

  8. Thank You.. I too think that someday she will see that I atleast tried. My parents did not after I got to be a certain age and I always felt hurt by that.

My kids call me mama NO... they say it is my favorite word, but everywhere I am mean mom... I am ok with that.

Yes, the prayer issue is also an issue we have but we are homeschooling next season. Part of the reason why.

  10. OH heck no would I be all over that if they sent my kid to the office for saying grace.. it's sad that they are so worried about not including God in so many things and they wonder why society is the way it is today /sigh

YAY on the gas bill that would make my day!!!

  11. HA HA... yes, I have a few choice words for them. I am going to be saying something, but yet try to show them I don't have to be rude to get my point across. I have so much to say about this, but I am sure alot of you know what I am thinking already without me doing so. I agree with you totally.

  12. I am thinking they made a mistake. I would of course hope not, but IF they did, I don't want to be suprised later either. I haven't showed Adam yet - he has been gone all day, I wonder what he'll say.

I agree with you about saying grace, I think it is personally rediculously sad - maybe MORE should say grace , instead of cursing at the tables and them not being sent to the office, yet Hannah is. Bad example ? Hmmmm.... yyyyeeeea. Riiiight. Again, why we are homeschooling.

  13. OMG...saying Grace = trip to the office! I'm flipping out, here...holy cow! I must say that down here in the south we still say grace before going to lunch, albeit, a silent grace, at least our children don't get sent to the office for doing so....geesh, that would so p*** me off. Good that you can keep your cool about it though, I'd probably get arrested and what would be the point then.

It's a crying shame whenever a child cannot pray over a meal...is why the world is going to hell in a handbasket.

I hope the gas bill doesn't turn out to be a mistake...could just be God smiling on you...you never know.

    HUGS!

  14. I hear ya on the gas bill, it's like if it's a mistake ya hate to say anything but then again if they catch the mistake then your bill is in shut off status or something you're screwed. Religion is such a touchy subject, especially in school, even though kids should be allowed to they are so afraid to offend someone. Even though she shouldn't have to, maybe she can just say it silently to herself, and it will avoid problems, but like I said, she shouldn't have to. I am totally floored and amazed by some of the rules in school today, it's nuts. J tells me weird stuff all the time, and I'm always like "what??? that's nuts!" While I understand that some rules are to make our kids safer in these crazy times, other times I think it's a control issue, and they go overboard!

  15. I couldn't agree more... and I hope so about the gas ... but I am debating whether or not I should call them tommorrow.
