So here's my"new" house.
It makes me wanna cry .... I don't like it ! I hate sounding snobby, but it is just so far from where I was hoping to be right now.
Oh well, I guess things can get worse... so I'll take it day by day.
This morning I woke up to a big truck driving by the house. It was a moving van and they drove up to the neighbors... the same neighbors that we had the descrepancy over the land with. Seems as though they got the same boot that we did and have lost thier house and land over this issue as well ... and now are moving, just as we will be in the next week.
I am just feeling so confused how people can put money before people anymore. God, sometimes I really hate the times we are living in.
Anyway... back to the "new" house. It is a 3 bdrm, 2 Bath but NEEDS ALOT OF WORK ! It is 1 block from the middle school and 2 from the high school... it isn't far from the walking track or park either and town is not far away. In the picture above you can see how all the weeds and bushes took over the whole front yard (and back as well) ... well, yesterday, we cut down EVERY LAST THING !
The last people to live here left alot of things and made a horrible mess and broke the windows ... I don't know WHY anyone would do that, but yesterday we cleaned out the garage and threw away so many things ... and Cameron found a GameBoy Advance too ! He was so excited, he already just luves video games !
Anyway the gentlemen from church who owns the house, says we can do whatever we want ... but I really don't want to go all crazzy for nothing again... he says no security deposit is necesary because we will be doing all the cleaning and painting. He wanted the bricks painted out front (on the bottom, near the ground) and the front door. I can only think that a brick red or maroon color would be nice ... what do you all think ? We'll also be painting the garage Grey to match the house... it is off colored bricks at the right back of the house. (Don't know if you can see it in that photo)I haven't taken any indoor pictures yet, but might this afternoon. Still quite reluctant, but life goes on.
So today, we go back again to clean more and get ready to paint. We still have a few days to move, but we are putting some things in storage because the place is substancially smaller. I JUST still have no idea how were gonna get it all moved. It makes me hurt so and I am never much help. The little things are fine, but as for the biggest things... I just don't know. We don't know many around us.
Oh well, I have to go feed everyone so I can go scrub !
Have a great Sunday everybody !
TAMMIE
Tammie Im glad you found a place and sorry its a step down from what you had small blessings eventually lead to a silver lining I just know they will!! The maroon would look nice or if you want something a little less defined you could go with a sandstone color. That's great that the security deposit was waved and I am praying that you will find someone to help you out with moving the big things and harder stuff. Hang in there and know that I will keep praying for you. (((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))
ReplyDeleteOh Tammie!! I know you probably don't want to hear this but I actually really like the house! I think it's cute:) It looks like it's in better shape then any of the houses we are looking at. I know, again, not what you want to hear but at least you have a house. Knowing you'll fix it up and it will be 'home' soon. :) Still praying for you! HUGS!!
ReplyDeleteI know, but what pisses me off is the fact that we just got done with THIS house. The appraisal was 210 now ... and I feel SOOO SOOO jipped - this :new" house don't even compare ! Ok, yea again... I know that sounds snobby, but I am being honest.
ReplyDeleteHug's
ReplyDeleteI really think it is cute too. And I KNOW that you will put your touches on it and it will look SO much better. It does really suck that you just got done with your house, but I am just so glad you are not homeless.
ReplyDeleteI think either maroon or red would look really good with grey.
From the outside it looks prety nice Tammie...I so see potential for the front and a nice black painted front door...I think red would look good with the grey....i love that for you guys its so close to school, park and walking places too. Is the yard large in the back and does it have a deck or patio?
ReplyDeleteHow really very lucky to have found a home so quick even though it isnt what you ultimately want. Being allowed to do what you want is super fortunate. We have rented before and were able to do that but have been on the opposite renting where we couldnt do ANYTHING and that sucked!
Once you get your hands on it you might be really suprised at how much you like it! Im sorry about the other house but at least you have somewhere to live :) You arent being snobby at all...i totally get it! HUGS
I agree with the rest...I was expecting a house in ruins! But it is cute!! With a little TLC, it will be home! I know it's not your ideal home, but it is a roof over your families head, something to be thankful for!!!
ReplyDeleteAs for the bricks, I think a deep reddish burgandy color, not to bright, would be nice! Is that like a sun room when you walk in? All those windows will bring in a lot of sunshine and happiness, something you need about now! Best of luck on the move!!!
Wow your so lucky you found a home so fast. Count your blessings.
ReplyDeleteTammie you are very lucky to have found a house so quickly.....I know your going to do great things with it...HUGS
ReplyDeleteYay that it is so close to the schools and the walking track. That's a positive, right? I think it is a cute house...
ReplyDeleteI think you should just leave the bricks the color they are...why bother? They're already brick color, just the way they should be, right?
I hate moving. I have a personal policy to not lift heavy things...I just don't like it. Sorry you have to do it at all!
This is the beginning of a new chapter Tammie. You will meet neighbors, make some friends! I know you are shy, but try to give people a chance! Sounds like you can walk to a lot of places. The kids will make new friends in the area and before you know it, it will feel like home....
ReplyDeleteYou and your family will make it yours and it'll feel like home after you get settled, life is all about starting new chapters...here's a new one for you and your family. Just go one day at a time and try and look for the good first...it helps :]
ReplyDeleteI think a darker grey to balance the dark color of the roof would look good on the bottom bricks. As for the front door, I think a dark wine/byrgundy would be nice! :)
ReplyDeleteI think once you get all your little touches up it will feel more like home. I know it is frustrating because you just finished up the other place, but you can't let that get you down. Nothing you can do to fix it now so let it go. (I speak from experience since you know that my MI house just got trashed by renters...I could continue to be bitter, but really what does that get me?)
Those are some beautiful Tiger Lillies in front of your house so I hope you didn't oull them out too! (Those are like the ones that Rikki has in her yard..remember from her recent blog?)
Good luck to you and just rememeber to keep looking at the positives...like how close it is to the park and the schools and everything will begin to look up again! :)
THe color choices sound nice. I'm bad at picking colors.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found a place to go. I spent the whole time I was camping this weekend, wondering what it would be like to have to be living in the campground all the time, as you had said you might have to do. I was so worried about you. I still am.
I think the house is very cute. I'm sure you guys will get it how you like it and remember things happen for a reason, you just might not know the reason right now. HUGS!!!
ReplyDeleteWe've fallen as a society when we value the dollar over our fellow humans.
ReplyDeleteHello Tammie! I am with the rest here and probably not what you want to hear but I think it looks great. It's a cute little house and I know you put so much into that other house but wow on you finding something so fast and thank God you have a roof for your family! WOOHOO on the game boy advance. Just keep looking at the postive which is very hard to do but if you do good things will keep happening! I am still trying to keep postive!! Big hugs to you!!!
ReplyDeleteTammie, I know how hard you worked on your other house and it's hard to hard to give it up, but remember that there's a reason for everything....
ReplyDeleteAnd, it will start to feel like your home after you've scrubbed for a few weeks............that was a joke...lol.
It WILL start to feel like home after a while, believe me, it will. There are worse things, and I know you know that. I wish you well, and wish I could be there to help you scrub....I like to clean as crazy as that is. I hope it looks up for you soon...my prayers are with you.
I think the house is cute and with a little love it can be great I’m sure. I think you’ll be surprised at what a change just pulling the weeds in the yard will make.
ReplyDeleteI know how disappointing it is that you just finished your house and all but I think you lucked out finding something so fast to move into. And it does sound like it’s closer to stuff so you’d save gas maybe? Heck, you’ve already pulled a Gameboy Advance from the garage…. that’s yet another positive. : )
Since you mentioned the people that sold the house to you also appear to have been booted over this same issue I really do wonder what’s to become of the land and houses now.
UL ... I have been wondering about that SAME thing myself. My hubby is thinking it is most likely the same place that bought both houses and the land splitting them correctly for a sale. I LUVED my house ... it was mine. I hope it don't sit long. If not me... I hope it goes to a nice family that will care for it like I would.
ReplyDeleteDo you think there was enough acreage to split between the two places to legally sell both houses?
ReplyDeleteIt really sucks what happened and I'm steamed over it for you.
H aha ha. yea I am steamed about it all, but damn it all it still hurts to even think about.
ReplyDeleteOh yea... the neighbors did own more acres than us, although I am not sure of how much - only that it was more. Another reason that it makes me mad .. because seriously was this all really necesaary or is it just filling someones pocket with money.
Thank you :O)
ReplyDeleteI was actually thinking of doing a darker grey color too !
I will never rent a house out to anyone ... how can people be that way to others ? I don't get it. What really is the purpose ? Like the house we just got, the last folks busted like 5 windows and trashed the place ... why ????
When ever I leave somewhere I shampoo the carpets and clean it. I figure if I wouldn't like it - why would someone else ? Treat others like you'd want to be treated ..... no ?
As for the lillies, some of them did go and some of them stayed. In time the guy said he wanted the steps out front fixed and made bigger, so it might be nice to do that for him. Lillies are easily transplanted, so I can spend alot of time in the fall doing that so next spring they will come back up in another area.
Awww, Thank You N.
ReplyDeleteIluv going camping and the longest time was for about a week and a half ... that seemed like forever. Don't know that I would like to really have had lived that way. Atleast no longer than that.
Nooo, the bricks aren't "brick" color .. they are just a cinder block like stuff... and the other houses around have thiers painted. So I think it will look good painted.
ReplyDeleteHA HA ---- Well, I lived here at this house almost 4 years now and I still wasn't done "scrubbing" - I am beginning to feel like Cinderella.
ReplyDeleteI like the house - it's quaint ;) I know you'll work hard to make it a home for your chitluns. And being close to everything will save on gas!
ReplyDeleteI understand that this is not where you want to be...but the house is really cute and I know once you put your personal touch on it, it will be great. I'm glad you were able to find something so quickly.
ReplyDeleteNo security deposit? Awesome. It sucks so bad that this isn't where you want to be and how you wanted things to go but its nice he's being kind and giving you the run of the place. You have excellent taste so he must trust you implicitly :)
ReplyDeleteOh Tammie! I like it! The house has potetntial and you will make it a Home. The family and love is what makes it home, you will see. A little TLC and that place will be fabulous for you guys. I am just so happy things worked in your favor and you were able to find something. That is great news!!!
ReplyDeleteWish I were closer, I would offer to help!!! I know how hard moving is, I practically did everything here myself, except the big stuff of couse, but still... its hard and draining!!!
I'm happy to read you have a place to go. I understand moving to a smaller house, but just be thankful that God blessed you with it. I'm proud of you for doing what you have to do to take care of your family. Keep your head up, try to stay positive and everything will work out in the end. The house isn't a bad looking house, just not what your used to... you'll adjust and hopefully this will be a good stress free change for all of you.
ReplyDeleteThis house when we moved in it was a nasty filthy disgusting mess... took 3 days to clean it all and we were still living in the hotel. I absolutely refused to move in til I had bleached every surface in the house, we couldn't bleach the hardwoods and walls of course, but I we did scrub them to within an inch of our lives lol. Anyway, this comment wasn't supposed to be for me, it was supposed to be for you... you know how I ramble. *HUGS*
what she said! LOL
ReplyDeleteSeriously though...I'm not sure how I missed this blog yesterday, but here I am now! (better late than never, yes?? :)~ )
Couple good things about it. Being close to school and a walking area is good, that means that when it snows this winter, the road will get cleaned off right quick! :)~ Speaking of snow, with the house being smaller, it ought to be a lot easier to heat this winter, right? Is it still propane? Or are you guys on natural gas now?
I think the house is actually kind of cute on the outside. Who knows how the inside looks, but I'm sure you will have it looking good in no time.
You can do a lot without ripping out wall and re-drywalling, like you did the last place. If your new landlord is serious about letting you guys do repairs in place of rent money, make sure you keep all your receipts and don't go too crazy with it. With this being a rental, it's a whole different ball of wax when it comes to you putting money into the house! If I were you, I'd sign an agreement with him about exactly what he means when he says you can fix up the place using your rent money. And even after the agreement is in writing, you should talk to him about every thing you want to do, beyond just regular paint.
I'm really glad you guys found a place to move into so soon. Yes, it's smaller, and yes it's not the place you've put your heart and soul into, but you'll make it yours!
Can I make a confession? I'm secretly happy your neighbors got booted as well. Serves them right.
Are you sure that the previous tenants did it and that vandals (i.e. kids) didn't break in and do a bit of vandalization? The broken windows is what makes me think that...seems odd that the last tenatns would have broken those, but then again, nothing shocks me anymore! :S
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you found a place so quickly. That's great that there's no security deposit + he's letting you do whatever you want.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that, serves them right for all they've done to ya'll.
ReplyDeleteYes, with your creativity, you will make this new house into a home in no time!
ReplyDeleteOk... HA HA AH !
ReplyDeleteTomah don't use plows ! I am serious. They have one and only use it for the main road !
Yes, we have the natural gas now - so atleast that is a good thing. Although, I sure hope the bill won't be bad... or it will be BAD. HA HA !
OH yes, you better believe I will get it all in writing. Shame the world has to be this way though anymore. A persons word used to mean something.
HAHA... I wasn't going to say anything like that about the neighbors, but I was thinking it !
At least you have a roof over your head. You'll make it homey soon.
