Ok, so this is my 2nd blog for the day .... besides being immensely bored out of my mind, I am wallowing in self pity.
Last year at this time we were in South Dakota ... at our all time fave KOA camping and getting ready for the July 4th festivities there. In case you don't know - during the summer going to Rapid City and Mt. Rushmore is one of my all time fave places to go ! I LUV, LUV, LUV the area ! If in the winter they didn't get more snow than us ... I would most definitly consider moving there. South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana are sooo very beautiful ! I find that they are so many things to do and they aren't that all bad priced either (atleast as of last July) and you all know I am always looking for good, fun and cheap things to do with 5 kids !
I reeeeeeeeeeealy wanted to go again this year ... but then our trip was decided that we'd go to Washington DC ...but since gas is so high and food has gone up and our pay went down ...any trip at all right now was pretty much out of the question. Anyway we tried and we just could not afford to do our yearly July 4th trip. I am very sad tonight about this ...July 4th is my favorite holiday EVER and I LUV being in South Dakota.
I am also mad about it because it is not fair - I mean I haven't not ever not had a vacation and I am going stir crazy here, and I think this world has gotten too greedy. I mean seriously, WHY do gas prices need to be sooo high ?What excuse are they going to come up with next .....
"Oh, well today the cost of oil went up because someone pooped in the wrong toilet somewhere " Just sayin .....
Well, anyway - I am hoping for my next getaway (with my family) that it will be in South Dakota around September. I have really been wanting to go to the Laura Ingalls Wilder days in DeSmet. And ya'll know I am a Little House freak ... so I will look forward to this.
I don't think we are going anywhere tommorrow for fireworks :O( We just cannot afford the gas and as to my knowledge they do none around me here .... so yay ... won't I be having ALOT O' fun ?! Guess I will be in blogland all day ! LOL !
Well, I hope that all of you guys will have a great 4th ... I will be thinking of you !

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you're not able to do anything for your favorite holiday. That really sucks. Doesn't your town do a parade or anything? Mine does a parade and lots of festivities that are all free. We also have a nice fireworks display that the town puts on. It lasts for about 1/2 hour. I'm sure there is SOMETHING to do! Have you gone to your towns Chamber of Commerce website? GAH! I want to help you celebrate!

No. :O( They don't do anything at all. And we have no money to go anywhere anyway, not even for gas.

GAH! I'm moving out there!!!! Geesh, my town does NADA!!! I think cuz of all the wildfires and stuff here, they are trying to ban fire works...all kinds! Not sure if 'ban' is the right word, maybe discourage would be better. Heck, with all the fires going on here, who can blame them!

I can feel ya on wanting to go on vacation. I haven't been on one in 12 years..not a real one anyhow..and we were suppose to go on a cruise last year and the old man got laid off and it has just been a struggle to get back on track ever since. There's so many places wanna go ...grr!!

ReplyDeleteI have always lived in a suburb close to a decent sized city, and there has always been BIG fireworks for us. In fact, even when I lived in Podunk, NC, USA, my ex-hubby's company did a big fireworks thing.
I am hating gas prices right now. This world is SO ready for alternative energy! Helloooo!
Don't get too down. If you have a couple bucks, you can get some sparklers, at least, the younger kids always seem to enjoy those! And I bet, if you just sit outside, you will be able to see neighbors setting of fireworks!

ReplyDeleteThere are no fireworks in our town this year. I'm so disappointed! I think this will be the first year I haven't seen them since I was 5!
HA HA - we don't have any neighbors ... we live 3 miles from anything ... but I know what you mean . I wish I could come up there too .. that would be fun ! I have been wanting to go up that way too - usually we always go south to do anything.
