So it is 5 AM ... and as usual I am sitting here - awake. I figure that by now I will just stay awake because I have so many things to do today that I would have to get up shortly anyway.
Before I sat here to check in, I had just watched this fun movie called Mad Money. I really liked it - but it seems that alot of the movies I have picked to watch this week are all focused on getting money. LOL. So lets seee. in a review I have watched "Fun with Dick and Jane", "Set it off" and now "Mad Money" ..... wonder what one I will find to watch next.
Ideas anyone ?
So any doo dooo - seems as though watching all these movies and seeming also to be in quite the financial slump right now - it really gets my thoughts churning about how interesting it would be to be able to do something similar. I mean don't get me wrong, I am not saying I will - I am just saying that I have thought about it.
We are in the worst economy in years, mass amounts of people are filing bankruptcy and facing forecloseures on thier homes ..... and what makes it worse is that no one really cares. Prices keep going up, more and more each and every day and the general populations pay does not increase with all the price increases everywhere - they are just expected to have the money.
Am I the only one who sees that this is only going to create more problems in our country ? Am I the only one left to wonder WHY nothing is being done about any of this ? Has anyone noticed here how the rich are getting richer - while even the people who used to be "okay" are now in poverty levels and cannot get help ?!
I know there is going to be a day - when I turn on the news and someone has shot some one or something over something as dumb as food , gas, or shelter ... WHY is America becoming so greedy ?????? Surely if other countries see it then why can't we ? They say this is a great country to live in and please don't get me wrong - but how about asking the people in our own country how they feel when they have to tell thier little kids they can't feed them dinner because if they don't fill the gas tank, they cannot get to work - to go make more money ?!
Right now I find that I really hate our government for letting this happen. Is it really pertinent to worry about such things as going to the moon or mars when some people are needing so much ? Say ---- a person who is a waitress USED to be able to put food on the table and be able to pay bills, and I find it rediculous that if both adults and children in households anymore aren't working they lose everything.
My son Jordan had three class mates drop out of school this past spring in order to help thier families get through hard times ... I THOUGHT our country was way PAST THAT ?!?!!?!?
Doesn't anyone care about any body any more - or is everyone out to just fill thier own pockets ?
I didn't mean to come here today to start a bitch blog, and how strangely peculiar that this falls on our payday and I just happen now to NOT have enough yet again to pay all the bills that need to be paid, get gas AND food. ~~~ I HATE Having to make the choice to feed the kids or fill the tank !! ..... My diet plan of not buying food and starving is working wonders and pawning everything in the house is so much fun !!!! We just cut off ALL insurances and extras in bills that we had, to try to help cut back costs and I have thought about getting a job .... but for me to get a job, means daycare - I have no HS diploma so work at Mcdonalds or what not is about the limit to my qualifications, which in tern means that I am then JUST working to pay for daycare. I don't want to - but I can certainly see where the parents of my son's friends are coming from .... am I going to have to choose this path as well ????
I mean it is great - if you have money - by all means enjoy it !
Money may not buy happiness - so they say -
but it sure buys everything else - don't it ?!
So don't think I haven't thought about it ......
Yea $$ and gas prices and the ecomony are not fun to deal with now days...
ReplyDeleteSorry - I am not trying to be a downer today ya'll ... I hope you guys have a fab Friday !!!
ReplyDeleteOh I love your picture Tammie! I took one like that when I was a kid with my mom & sister! I care and I feel th same way. It's terrible on stay at home mom's. I can't stand the goverment but you know what I think the people have just sat back and let them take over. Made it a point to have the goverment get there noses into stuff. I also think the churches have sat back and not done what they are called to do and let the goverment take over in those areas. It is very sad and your right it seems none of the big wigs seem to care about us low income families. All we can do is pray and leave it in God's hands. It's not easy by any means but if you put your trust in him and keep your eyes on him he'll get you through. I like your end line about Money may not buy happiness - so they say - but it sure buys everything else - don't it ?! Yes it does
ReplyDeleteI sure hope your Friday will be a good one Tammie! Husg to you my friend!!
you and a million other people!
ReplyDelete:)
I was gonna write something all profound and deep, but Matt's bugging me to go get breakfast now......!
:)~
They say that you're either Upper class or Lower class now a days...there is NO happy medium class!
ReplyDeleteYou know my financial woes. Bankruptcy, foreclosure. It sucks, but we made the choices we made and got ourselves in that situation, but yeah...the economy doesnt' help AT ALL!
Marc continues to hound me to get a job, but I'm like you...it aint worth it for me to work! Yes, my kids are old enough to fend for themselves for the most part, but I refuse to be one of those Mom's who leaves their kids alone to fend for themselves for everything! I just don't have the heart to do it!
On a lighter note...that old timey pic is adorable! I think we all have one of those somewhere!
Our financial situation pretty much sucks too!!! Not like it was a year ago ;) But you have your health and a beautiful family. Can you get a part time job somewhere out there to help make ends meet??
ReplyDeleteI just hope I dont see you on the news....
" Mother of 5 arrested today at gunpoint for attempted robbery at the local bank so she could feed her family" Although if more moms tried pulling that one, maybe someones eyes would open!!
I'll tell you - this economy is nuts even for double income families! Where I live, salaries are high - but the cost of living is ridiculous. If you knew my mortgage payment - for a regular ol house - you'd probably keel over. So even with 2 decent incomes, we are still paycheck to paycheck.
ReplyDeleteI was about to say was Dana said...even with 2 incomes...it sucks.
ReplyDeleteI know lots of single income families...and it sucks to suffer and have to make those decisions. Grrrrr. I've enver even facotred in gas in my budget until the last 2 months...I mean, and now they're saying CASH Only at the pump? Bla.
Big hugs to you girl..
Yes, it's really easy to just go day to day and push the fear away with thoughts like "Oh, it's going to get better soon". But you're right ~ there needs to be a big wake-up call. Things are out of hand and it's time for America to start taking care of it's own.
ReplyDeleteI have thought alot about all this too and even thought recently about how to make MORE money by finding a better job that pays higher. Its crazy. I used to not have to work and we didnt worry about it. My job was just cushion..now if I didnt work it would probably be bad. Its crazy.
ReplyDeleteI remember this picture from a long time ago! Cute!
I hoep you have a good rest of the day!
Like Trish my cleaning job used to be my spending money and now it is getting used for bills. I think that everyone that I know is feeling the squeeze!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you about the financial situation of most american families. It is really sad. I am pushing my hubby to start fixing our place up to sell and buy a cheaper home. I am trying to move back to our hometown Uxbridge. It's where I work and our kids go to school. It's about 15 min. from where we live now. I would save money on gas too!
ReplyDeleteI can so relate to everything in this blog. We never have enough to pay all the bills. It's always a juggling act and I hate it. We have been talking about moving out of South Florida because the cost of living is just way to high down here. With prices increasing it's just not afordable anymore. I really don't want to move before David finishes school but it may come to it.
ReplyDeleteI hate our government. They don't give a damn about us here in our own country, they are too busy shelling out money to fix other countries that don't want us to help them and the illegals in our country. Makes me sick to my stomach!!! Oh goodness don't even get me started.
I have wondered for a long while here now why no one can see that all of us on the bottom can't pick up the cost for EVERYONE and that's what they want us to do. Our electric company just put in for a 16% increase on our rates. They are already HIGH. I guarantee the homeless population in America has increased so much this past year and it's only going to get worse. I honestly worry about it myself, we live week to week and God forbid something happen to Al's job. We already don't have enough income to keep afloat.
So again, I can relate!!
I also agree the crime rate is fixing to sky rocket. People are in desperate times and even my own hubby has said before he lets his family starve he'd rob banks. I know that sounds awful and my hubby has never been in trouble with the law and isn't like that at all. BUT.....he doesn't want to see his family starving and most men out there feel the same exact way. This means violence is sure to take place sooner or later.
Maybe that's the governments plan, to let the poor kill each other off. Who knows! Nothing would surprise me.
I feel this exact same way!!!
ReplyDeletehmmm this is a interesting blog Tammie....I often think how much higher can the prices go.....
ReplyDeleteWell, A don't hound me so much - he KNOWS how I feel ... but I know it is on his mind - and it is on mine too alot more lately.
ReplyDeleteI feel exactly the same way about the kids tho - probably why I've only had one job and that was to buy and pay offf a car - which I did then I quit.
Haaa ha ... I bet mine MIGHT be as bad as yours ---- they got us on bad credit and our rates skyrocketed because our credit was bad due to ID theft !!!!
ReplyDeleteOh ... I know - right ? lol.
ReplyDeleteI wish to hell someone WOULD DO IT - but I just don't wanna face the consiquences. :O(
WHAT ? How dare you Matt ! I needed that ! lol !
ReplyDeletecan't think today, but I did see all of those movies and Mad Money was a good one. I knew she had some stashed at the restaurant/bar because they would openly talk about what they were doing when he was around!Katie Holmes cracked me up!
ReplyDeleteI so hear ya. With this economy, tips are not what they used to be. So, I make LESS than I made a few years ago, while all my bills are higher, my groceries are more, and let's not even talk about gas. Between Chris and my jobs, we pay the bills, but there's no way we can do things like buy a house or a new car. I don't want any more monthly bills, because if I have a slow month, and my tips are low, I can't rely on being able to pay that bill, for sure.
ReplyDeleteThe direction we are going, as a whole, is just not good.
Thats funny your talking about money. I'm getting ready to do a blog about money. lol! I sure wish that it grew on trees!! Wouldn't that just been awesome?!!
ReplyDeleteI've seen Mad Money and Fun w/ Dick and Jane. They are both funny movies;0)
I agree w/ you 100% on the economy being the worst it has been in years! It's ridiculous! Not only is gas going up but so is groceries! Ugh!!! How does the person who makes min. wage make it? I just don't understand w/ the government doesn't do something about the situation!! Makes ya kinda worried about our future.
Have a gr8 night! Hugz!
