BAZAAR, JUST BAZAAR ...

Geeze, lemme tell you - Neither the people or the weather here; is just something that I will ever get !!!! Up and down ... up and down ... the temps go from one extreme to the next. One day the temps are in the twenty's then down to the -20's and then back up to the 30's. One day was even 45 ! It's mind boggeling, I tell you.

So today, I had plans to go about and  get a few things done, sent the kids to school, got some laundry done and actually got to take a nap ... UNTIL ... all of the sudden at noon I hear that school was being let out early due to an impending ice/snow storm that is expected. Now, it has been "gooey" outside all morning, but no big deal I thought and certainly no reason to cancel school. Seeing as though our school system never lets out early and the only day they celebrate anything for is Cranberry Day ... this odd occurance of days let out is weird. Especially today ..... so, I look back at my kids school records and see just what days they've had off since we've moved here .... and get this SHOCKING bit of info here -----> Amazingly every day for every year since being here - the day after the super bowl, school has been cancelled or let out early. Now why is that ???? So, I probe a little deeper .... I ask the kids what goes on at the school and why this seems to happen ... and if they have ever noticed any similarities between the years.

So, This is what I get told today from Brittany; my 14 year old after I asked her. " Yes Mom, there is a difference ..... most teachers don't come in or we have alot of subs that teach the classes. When they come back, all they talk about is the superbowl and drinking. The teachers that are there, say they all have headaches and to be quiet". So I ask her if EVERY teacher was like this at her middle school, and she said "No, not every one, the church group ladies or subs are pretty normal, I guess.... and maybe one or two others."

Well, this of course encouraged me to ask my son; Jordan how things seemed at the high school .... and he reports back "Pretty much the same, Ma - very similar, but maybe a few differences".

NOW WHY IS THIS ???? AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO SEES A PROBLEM HERE ????

Is this REALLY what I send my kids to school to learn ? WHY should the teachers be able to discuss thier drinking habits at school ?

OKAY... So this IS Wisconsin and ALOT of people drink and since this is the norm here no one sees it to be a big deal ..... but I DO !

Is there anyone else who thinks this is right ? Do you think I am over-reacting ? Do you think just cause people do that here, it is ok ?

I dunno ....but for today anyway, this kinda ticked me off. Could be just WHY I dislike it here so much ... football, drinking ... it seems to be all the world revolves around here.

Obviously, we are not drinkers and as some people hate religion being pushed on them, I guess we feel that way about the way folks drink here. Funny, I don't have alot of friends from this area because I won't drink, but thier loss I guess. Just makes me mad - people there is more to life and you CAN have fun without it !

(Needless to say, I didn't get much done as I had hoped due to the "weather" but tommorrow IS another day.) :O)

HOPE YA'LL HAVE A GOOD EVENING !

  1. It is kind of odd. It's always ever been business as normal at any school I was ever at...

  3. That is very odd Tammie!! I would be upset too. They shouldn't be talking about that stuff in front of the kids or where the kids can here. Plus sending the kids home. It was never like that here the day after the superbowl when I went to school but I wouldn't be surprised now. Another reasoon I am glad I home school my kids!! So nope I don't think your over reacting at all!! Nope I don't think just because they do it there it's right! I hope your day today will be good! Hugs to you!!

  4. Strange bunch of people...but what is there to do there? lol....not funny, I guess, but maybe out of boredom, they drink? Shouldn't be discussed within hearing of students, though.
So they're being let out because the teachers have hangovers? lol....weird bunch, as I said.
