Or, ahem, that is the only time it seems I have to stop in anymore.
We are doing ok here, just busy. I am just not doing so well with the whole scheduling aspect of this home schooling. I have my hours all mixed up and that makes it hard to accomplish much of anything. One day I slept in till 1pm and was shocked that I had actually slept so long. I was like what the hec all day and just totally "off". SIGH.
Spring being here is making it much nicer to get out though. We have had alot of days of rain this week, mixed in with an odd "hot" day, but I won't say I didn't like it ! I HATE winter and summer is just about my fave time, also my fave holiday - 4th of July... something to look forward too !
Anyway, I am here tonight to make myself load our Kalahari pictures, because any other time I get either too busy or am too tired. I think after the initial getting used to actually doing and sticking to a schedule though, it will just be alot easier. I have never really 'done' a schedule ever though, I am quite the spontanious person and do whatever - whenever, so maybe that is why I am finding this the most difficult to adjust to. My kids need it though, I can tell.
Today we worked on Math and Home Ec for our studies ... this wasn't all that hard. I had the girls do a meal planning activity for a week for all of us, then we went to the grocery store with pen and paper and totaled all the things up before we got to the register. This was done to help them with simple addition that they have been struggling with. Honestly we haven't been working all that intently on everything we should, my girls are still "de-schooling" a bit and adjusting to being home. I think once we get the full schedule in place and the itch from summer soon to be here is gone, things will fall into place nicely. Just takes time.
With the exception of yesterday, the attitudes of the girls has drastically improved and it nice to see the change for the better. Jordan - my son who is in HS - has been complaining all week though about his wanting to do homeschooling as well. I really did not think with 1 year left of school he would be interested, but he is ... so I have a meeting scheduled with his guidance counselor on May 1st to review options for him. Jordan has decided that since he and Tiffany graduate a few weeks apart next year, he wants to go ahead and join the Army upon graduation. SIGH..... and of course this worries me because he is a bit nieve and pretty gullable, so my worry is that a recruiter will notice that and sign him up for some sort of infantry post, tanks or something weird. I will have to make sure Adam is with him every step of the way and won't let him be talked into something he don't understand.
So tommorrow we are working on our Bible workbooks and vocabulary/spelling here. I am still waiting on the arrival of our text books, but will be glad when we get them.
So, with all that being said, I had better go, load those pics and then get to bed. Hope ya'll are doing well, and have a great rest of the week ! Love ya !

(p.s. I hope ya'll can read my font, I have tried to see what looks easier, but my computer is different then the kids and it looks weird to me either way. Let me know if you can't see it well and I will change it.)
I can read it easily!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are doing great with your homeschooling. Really, the schedule will get to a place where you have a good routine going, but give yourself time! I love your meal planning activity with grocery shopping and using math skills. Sounds like a great school day to me!
Sounds like you are adjusting to home schooling.
ReplyDeleteSay, I heard a person at Ft. McCoy died yesterday...did Adam know him?
I can read it with no problem.
ReplyDeleteSounds like things are slowly falling in place. I'm not sure I could handle the home schooling at all but I've thought about it. David starts highschool next year and doesn't want to home school though.
Good luck with it all. Now I'm off to see if you got the pictures up. Have a good day!
I'm not having any problems reading it! :)
ReplyDeleteIt'll get easier, I'm sure. I know a couple of people who's kids finished up the last year of school via homeschooling. They just did it online, and it worked out fine.
It sounds like Jordon is determined to join the military. You never know, he could end up enjoying it and be like DeWeese, my sister, who joined when she was 19 and is now 40 and an officer making a really good living and able to retire with full benefits any time. She's also only 1 class away from her Master's Degree! :)~ The opportunities are there, for sure!
Changes are always a little hard to adjust too, but you will get it. I have a couple friends that home school and they seem to be doing pretty well. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteI can read it fine too.
ReplyDeleteHomeschooling is going good for you. It will take a while to get into a schedule. We don't use a schedule but I know lots of people do. It's whatever works for you.
Have a great week!
I am schedule person. It makes me feel anxious to not be on schedule.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear from you!
ReplyDeleteI'd think scheduling would be the key to home schooling. Good luck
